Fiumicino Airport

Fiumicino International Airport, also known as Leanardo da vinci International airport, is Italy's largest Airport. The airport is located approximately 30 km from Rome's Historic city Centre.Rome  walks helps you choose the best method of transportation to the city.                       However, the airport recommends that airline passengers only use authorised taxicab companies .City of Rome Taxis are white and can be recognised by the illuminated taxi sign on the roof, and by the identifying licence number on the doors and inside the car. They have fixed rates from the airport to the city centre anywhere within the aurelian walls, which basically includes the central tourist ares. Outside these zones a meter will be used. If uou have problems , astentatiously write down the taxi's licence number, and ask for a receipt. Duration:30 to 45 minutes. You will have to go up two floors to find it. Rental car booths are located in the domestic and International halls, as well as the Airport train station. The Leonardo express is the fastest train to shuttle you from the Airport, to central Rome's Terminal station. Train tickets can be purchased at the main ticket windows at the news to bacco store, as well as at the automatic ticket machines. Payment can be made by credit card or cash. The train to Rome's central station (Rome Terminal) runs frequently between 6:37 am & 10.52pm and takes 31 minutes. There is another train that connects . Fiumicino Airport to central  Rome , and while it is slower than the express train, it does cost less about half the price of the Leonardo express train. Validate your tickets prior to boarding the track, called obliteratrici in italian. If you forget to validate your ticket you could receive a 100  euro as the spot fine. When you using the cheaper connecter train, look for the train with the destination orto, Fara sabina, or poggio mirteto. Get off at the Ostiense station to access central rome (south of the centre , closer to the sights) or Tiburating (east of the centre, closer to Terminal and the hotels there).
